Counting visits
ExileDB has no accounts and asks for nothing. Visits are counted twice: by Umami, which uses no cookies and stores no personal data, and by Google Analytics, which shows which pages are read, how people found them, and their country and device — as totals, to see what to improve.
In the European Union, the rest of the EEA, the UK and Switzerland Google Analytics sets no cookies unless you agree in Google's consent message: until then each page view is a ping without an identifier. Everywhere else it sets the _ga cookies, so that a return visit counts as the same visitor.
Advertising
Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense; they pay for the site. Google and other ad companies working with it use cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other sites, and to count views and clicks. Google's own include __gads, __gpi and __eoi, and more on doubleclick.net. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- In the European Union, the rest of the EEA, the UK and Switzerland Google asks first, in its own consent message, and advertising cookies are set only after you agree. You can change your answer later from the same message.
- Everywhere else they are on from the first page. You can turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center, and from many other ad companies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
