Use ExileDB in Your Guides
Copy anything, in the format the place wants
Every item, gem, base, passive, rune, omen and essence page has a Copy ▾ button next to its name, and the planners have one for the whole build. It copies a ready line for Reddit (Markdown), Discord (no tables, a small grey source line), Steam guides and forums (BBCode), YouTube descriptions (plain text), an HTML link, a picture of the card (copy it, or download it, also 1200×630 for a post) and the game's own text — the Ctrl+C format Discord and Path of Building users paste. Every copy carries its link and the patch, 0.5.5. Try it:
Many at once: press + List on everything you need — the list waits bottom right on every page. Reorder it, then export it as a Reddit table, a Discord list, a Steam [table] (cut to Steam's 8,000 characters with a link to the rest), text, an HTML table, one picture of all the cards, or a link to a page that shows them all (/list?i=…).
Passive, atlas and Genesis trees: Copy ▾ gives the build as text, a picture of the allocated tree, the Path of Building code and an embed. Temple layouts: the rooms by tier.
Find something and get every format
On your own site: one line of script
<script src="https://exiledb.com/tooltips.js" async></script>Anywhere in the page, once. It works on plain HTML, WordPress (a Custom HTML block or the theme footer), Ghost, Hugo, Jekyll, Next.js and the like. It runs in its own shadow DOM: your styles don't change the cards and the cards don't change your site.
- Hover cards. Any link to an ExileDB card page shows the card on hover (and on tap on phones). Try: Fireball, Headhunter, Chaos Inoculation, Greater Iron Rune, Omen of Light. Any element works with
data-exiledb="gems/fireball";data-no-tipturns a link's card off. - Inline card — the full card in your text, your link kept inside it:
<a href="https://exiledb.com/uniques/headhunter" data-exiledb-card>Headhunter</a> - Table — icon, name and key stats, each row linking to its page:
<a href="https://exiledb.com/list?i=uniques/headhunter,gems/fireball" data-exiledb-list="uniques/headhunter,gems/fireball,passives/chaos-inoculation">My build's key pieces</a> - Embedded build — a planned passive tree, read-only, with “Open on ExileDB” (the planner's Copy ▾ → Embed gives the iframe itself):
<div data-exiledb-embed="tree:witch.infernalist.<code from the planner link>"></div> - Autolink — names in your text become links with cards, the first mention of each, up to 200 a page, never in headings, code or existing links:
<article data-exiledb-autolink> … Take Chaos Inoculation and socket a Greater Iron Rune … </article>Leveling as a Witch? Take Chaos Inoculation early, run Fireball with Arcane Surge, and keep an Omen of Light for your best rare.
Options
| Option | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| colorLinks | true | Colour links like the game: uniques orange, gems teal, passives gold… |
| iconLinks | true | The icon in front of each link (iconSize: "small" or "medium") |
| renameLinks | true | A link whose text is the bare URL gets the name instead |
| theme | "auto" | "auto", "dark" or "light": tables and link colours (cards keep the game's look) |
| touch | true | Phones: the first tap shows the card, a second tap opens the page, a tap elsewhere closes it |
| autolink | false | Find names in your text and link them (or data-exiledb-autolink on one container) |
| ping | true | Tells us once per page how many cards it uses, so we know the script is used — no cookies, nothing about readers |
Set them before the script, or as attributes on the script tag (data-theme="light", data-icon-links="false"):
<script>
window.exiledbTooltips = {
colorLinks: true, // colour links like the game colours what they name
iconLinks: true, // the icon in front of the link
iconSize: "small", // or "medium"
renameLinks: true, // a link whose text is the bare URL shows the name instead
theme: "auto", // "dark" or "light" for tables and link colours
touch: true, // phones: first tap shows the card, second tap opens the page
autolink: false, // true: names in <article>, .entry-content and .post become links
ping: true, // one anonymous count per page (no cookies, no personal data)
}
</script>
<script src="https://exiledb.com/tooltips.js" async></script>On exiledb.com itself links keep the site's own colours, so the colour and icon options show only on your site.
Forums: a BBCode without plugins
A forum admin adds one custom BBCode; posts then write [exiledb]Headhunter[/exiledb] and get a link that opens the card's page. The link goes to exiledb.com/go/<name>, which finds the card by name (any case, apostrophes optional) or falls back to our search; an exact page is [exiledb]uniques.headhunter[/exiledb]. Add our script line to the forum's page template too and the links get hover cards.
phpBB 3.3
ACP → Posting → BBCodes → Add a new BBCode. BBCode usage:
[exiledb]{SIMPLETEXT}[/exiledb]HTML replacement:
<a href="https://exiledb.com/go/{SIMPLETEXT}">{SIMPLETEXT}</a>{SIMPLETEXT} takes Latin letters, numbers, spaces, commas, dots, plus, minus and underscores — no apostrophes, so write “Atziris Step”; /go still finds it. Don't use {TEXT} inside the link: phpBB warns that it is unsafe in an attribute.
XenForo 2
Admin control panel → Content → Custom BB codes → Add BB code. BB code tag exiledb, replacement mode Simple replacement, supports option parameter No, HTML replacement:
<a href="https://exiledb.com/go/{text}">{text}</a>Under Advanced options → Within this BB code, tick stop parsing BB code and stop auto-linking, so {text} stays a plain name.
Discourse, Ghost, Notion, Medium and others
Just paste the link. Pages describe themselves for link previews (name, key stats, icon) and answer oEmbed, so editors that embed links turn a card or a passive tree link into its card or tree.
WordPress
The script line works in a Custom HTML block or your theme's footer. A small plugin adds a shortcode for cards from all our game sites: download gamedb-cards.zip, then upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

- Free to use in guides, videos, blogs and forums, commercial ones included. Keep the visible link to exiledb.com — it is all we ask.
- Cards update automatically after each patch: the numbers come from the game files of the current patch (0.5.5).
- The script sets no cookies and collects nothing about your readers; it counts once per page how many cards and links it shows (the ping option, off with
ping: false). Privacy - Something wrong on a card? Use “Report a mistake” at the bottom of its page.
