About ExileDB

Where the numbers come from, and how they are checked✓ Checked against game files · 0.5.5

Sources

  • Game files. Gems, base types, modifiers, passives, runes, Spirit and the passive tree are read from the Path of Exile 2 client files of patch 0.5.5 (build 4.5.5.4), captured 2026-10-01, straight from GGG's patch server. Modifier text is rendered with the game's own stat description files.
  • Path of Building. Which modifiers a unique item has is decided on GGG's servers and is not in the client, so unique modifiers come from the Path of Building Community list. Names, base types and art of uniques still come from the game files.
  • GGG's trade site. The list of base types that exist as items is the one the official trade site uses.

How it is kept current

  • A server checks GGG's patch server every 20 minutes. Each new patch is downloaded, archived with a checksum for every file and compared with the previous one.
  • Every page shows the patch its numbers come from. The patch archive lists what changed.
  • Rankings under Best are computed from the same data and always print the number they sort by.

What has been checked

  • All 4,483 nodes of the main passive tree sit where Path of Building puts them, to within 0.007 units.
  • The passive planner imports and exports Path of Building codes; a real level 90 build round-trips node for node.
  • Gem damage and skill parts match poe2db and Fextralife where they are current (for example Fireball's firebolts).
  • Which supports fit which skill follows Path of Building's rules and agrees with it on all 268,664 skill and support pairs.
  • The item checker gives the same tier number as the game on every modifier of 42 real items copied in patch 0.5.
  • The log reader counts the same sessions, areas, level-ups and deaths as a hand count of a full campaign log.
  • Not yet checked in the game itself: Spirit totals, search strings and the loot filter. Spotted something wrong? Each tool says what it is based on.

Machine-readable data

The same data as the pages, as JSON. Each file starts with the patch, the source and the terms; each record links to its page. A summary for AI assistants is at /llms.txt.
