Tooltips for Your Site

Item, gem, passive and rune cards on hover, for Path of Exile 2 guides and blogs✓ Checked against game files · 0.5.5

1. Add this line to your page

<script src="https://exiledb.com/tooltips.js" async></script>

Anywhere in the page, once. It works on plain HTML sites, WordPress (a custom HTML block or your theme's footer), Ghost, Hugo, Next.js and the like.

2. Link to things on ExileDB

Any link to an ExileDB page for a unique, gem, base item, passive or rune gets a card on hover — the same card as on this site, in the game's colours and kept current every patch. Try it:

Run Fireball with Headhunter, take Chaos Inoculation, socket a Greater Iron Rune and look for a good Militant Bow.

Find something and copy its link:

Show a whole build's passive tree

Plan the build in the passive tree planner (or import it from a Path of Building code), press Embed and paste the iframe into your guide. Readers can zoom, hover nodes and open the build on ExileDB.

<iframe src="https://exiledb.com/embed/tree?c=witch&asc=infernalist&t=…" width="100%" height="560" style="border:0" loading="lazy"></iframe>

Options

Set before the script if you want link colours off or icons on:

<script> window.exiledbTooltips = { colorLinks: true, // colour links like the game colours what they name iconLinks: false, // put the item's icon in front of the link } </script> <script src="https://exiledb.com/tooltips.js" async></script>

Good to know

  • Free, no sign-up, no tracking. Cards load only when someone hovers a link.
  • The card sits in its own shadow DOM, so your site's styles don't change it and it doesn't change your site.
  • On phones a tap simply follows the link to the full page.
  • Forums that strip scripts (Reddit, the official forum) show plain links — they still work as links.
  • Please keep the links pointing to exiledb.com; that's the only thing we ask in return.
